Always do comprehensive UAT testing prior to client release
People - clients and users included - are generally very accommodating when it comes to small bugs and errors: the odd missing page, getting logged out randomly when a certain link is clicked. They're annoying, but easily dealt with and don't detract from the overall quality of the site.
That accommodating nature will only go so far however, and once you've lost the trust or patience of your clients, you'll never really get it back. With that in mind, it's vital that you thoroughly test your projects prior to releasing them to your clients; and ideally, you'll have it tested by people who have not worked on the project to date, lest you become the victim of overlooked problems caused by pre-conceptions, assumptions or unintentional bias towards functional operations.
Of course, even if you can find some members of your team who have not worked on the project, it's often hard to commit them to the days it takes to thoroughly test all project elements and report back on them. That's where we come in.
How we can help
We can take your project assets - specifications, prototypes and pre-release build systems - and test them. Ultimately, we can look for anything you wish, but as a minimum we tend to try to confirm the following:
- Does the site function as per the specification? If not, what are the differences?
- Is there anything in the specification that isn't in the site? Or vice versa?
- Is the site functional? Are there any performance, security or user experience problems?
- Does the site match the agreed criteria relating to browser support, accessibility or load times?
How we report back
We can report back to you in any format you desire, from a simple summary meeting and bullet point email through to a detailed document. In all cases, we'll capture exactly what we found, where, and recommended solutions as appropriate.
